I didn't realize that keiki o ka 'aina cared... It's odd, because shopping on the Windward side when the kids were little, it seemed that every couple minutes a "local" wahine would ask,"What are they?" Meaning, what is the interesting part? My brother and I are haole, his kids are haole/Japanese/Hawaiian/Portugese and mine are hapa pake. What is odd to me is that my wife who's from China was immediately welcomed as "local" by "locals," whereas I'm from O'ahu and will always be haole. Used to be haole boy to the guys at E K Fernandez carney, now I'm an old fxxt.
